WAGE RANGE: $66,500-$70,000/annually

JOB SUMMARY
The Family Engagement Senior Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and executing children’s and youth programs, managing volunteers and supporting community-building events. This role will work closely with the LSQ Director of Children’s Ministry to develop long-term family ministry goals that create an environment where families are drawn to LSQ and New York City, finding community, spiritual growth, and meaningful engagement. The role will also collaborate with RWS’ youth ministry team under the leadership and supervision of RWS’ Youth Ministry leadership to walk alongside middle and high school students of West Side Youth as they explore, wrestle with and take ownership of their faith in Jesus.

This position involves administrative tasks, leading certain discipleship efforts and pastoral care for LSQ children’s, and LSQ and West Side Youth middle and high school students and ensuring that all programming aligns with LSQ’s vision. Key responsibilities will be Sunday morning coordination, Friday night Youth Group, volunteer management, and event support to foster a thriving family ministry.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. LSQ Children’s Ministry (50%)
a. Sunday Coordination Support
i. Assist with execution of logistics, curriculum, worship, classroom management, attendance, and parent communication for all LSQ children and family initiatives.
ii. Collaborate with LSQ children’s ministry team to ensure that curriculum is gospel-centered, age-appropriate and aligned with LSQ’s vision.
iii. Maintain a welcoming and safe environment for children and families.
iv. Rotate periodically with other children’s ministry staff to take the lead for Sunday Sunday morning management and set up.

b. Volunteer Management and Training
i. Recruit and coordinate scheduling of volunteers, maintaining a volunteer database and communication. Maintain substitutes for volunteers.
ii. Maintain relationships with volunteers, including providing care and ongoing training and evaluation.
iii. Plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation initiatives.
iv. Ensure all volunteers are compliant with child safety policies, including the Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention accreditation.

c. Family and Community Engagement
i. Assist in planning and executing seasonal programs, family events, and community-building activities.
ii. Provide logistics support for family discipleship initiatives and provide resources for parents.
iii. Help create a culture where families feel welcome, known and equipped to engage in the church community.

d. Administrative and Database Management
i. Oversee weekly logistics such as sign-making, name tags, and classroom materials.
ii. Manage the children’s ministry database (Touchpoint), streamlining check-ins and tracking attendance.
iii. Ensure accurate record-keeping for families and event registrations.

e. Vision and Strategic Planning
i. Contribute creative ideas and solutions to support the family ministry vision.
ii. Collaborate with the children’s ministry team on curriculum and programming decisions.
iii. Participate in weekly family ministry meetings to set ministry goals and refine strategies.

2. Youth Ministry (6th-12th grade students) (50%)
a. West Side Youth (WS Youth) (15 hrs/wk) - Under the leadership and supervision of RWS’ Youth Ministry Director:
i. Attend and participate in all WS Youth events and ministry outside of RWS Sunday service, including weekly WS Youth staff team meetings.
ii. Assist in execution of WS Youth programming, including, but not limited to, Friday Night Youth Group, midweek small groups and one-on-one meetings (before school, during lunch and after school), volunteer training, volunteer gatherings, WS Youth Partner events and family ministry.
  • Provide teaching to middle school and high school students during weekly Friday Night Youth Group.
  • Develop and teach lesson plans for small groups.
  • Mentor and disciple youth both individually and in small groups.
  • Lead small and large groups activities with ease.
iii. Assist with maintaining consistent communication at LSQ of WS Youth invites, connect ads, website rotators, event registrations, etc., with RWS taking point on development of communications.
iv. Coordinate LSQ youth participation in West Side Youth programs, retreats and events.
v. Serve as the primary point of contact between LSQ and West Side Youth.
vi. Ensure alignment of vision and discipleship efforts between LSQ and West Side Youth.
vii. Volunteers:
  • Recruit volunteers from LSQ for Friday Night Youth Group, midweek small groups and one-on-one meetings, worship team and other special events, including retreats, sports nights, justice initiatives, etc.
  • Walk alongside WS Youth volunteers with one-on-ones, community building gatherings/events and training.
viii. Parents:
  • Walk alongside WS Youth parents with one-on-one meetings. Assist in organizing parenting workshops.
b. LSQ Sunday Youth (5 hrs/wk)
i. Under the direction and supervision of the LSQ Director of Children’s Ministry plan and lead or support LSQ Sunday Youth discipleship groups or events, including gospel-centered Bible studies, including games, icebreakers and interactive activities for LSQ youth (6th-12th grade students) during LSQ’s Sunday worship service and/or in the homes of LSQ youth on Sundays.
  • Build relationships with students and families to encourage long-term spiritual growth.
  • Assist with execution of logistics, curriculum, worship, classroom management, attendance, and parent communication for LSQ Sunday Youth, including: (1) managing logistics of rental space or other meeting locations for LSQ Sunday Youth Bible studies or activities and (2) ordering necessary food, beverages and supplies for LSQ Sunday Youth Bible studies or activities.
  • Recruit, screen, train and meet regularly with LSQ Sunday Youth volunteer leaders (including background checks, checking references and overseeing adherence to LSQ’s Child Protection Policies and Procedures).
  • Provide ongoing training to LSQ Sunday Youth volunteers on expectations, including LSQ vision, expectations, and obligations for the volunteers in ministering to the LSQ Sunday Youth students. Update training document, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must embrace LSQ’s vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for New York City.
  • Must be aligned with the core theological principles, including the core ministry values of LSQ and the Presbyterian Church of America, including the Westminster Confession.
  • Must have a deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must have a four-year undergraduate degree in psychology, theology, religion, biblical studies, youth ministry, education or related field; or equivalent work experience. Graduate work in theology, counseling, or similar fields from an accredited seminary or university is a plus.
  • Must have ministry experience; minimum of 2 years’ experience (volunteer or paid) participating in children’s, youth or equivalent ministry; urban ministry experience is a plus. Experience with curriculum development is preferred.
  • Must have experience with volunteer management under supervision and event planning.
  • Must have a passion for children’s and youth ministry.
  • Ability to build relationships and trust across a broad set of families, students, staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent ability to organize and advance multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively plan and effectively execute programs and events, along with strong time management.
  • Aptitude for communicating effectively and winsomely.
  • Ability to think proactively and anticipate and meet administrative needs.
  • Comfort and competence navigating a complex organization and a dynamic ministry environment.
  • Commitment to take initiative, own and follow through on administrative details and projects.
  • Team player with ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic organizational environment.

  • Proven ability to teach Bible, theology, and Christian discipleship to youth
  • Must love spending time with people (both youth and adults) both one-on-one and in an environment of learning, listening, growing and caring, as well as in large-group settings such as crowded events and social gatherings.
  • Ability to provide pastoral counsel and care to both youth and adults.
  • Must be a dependable team player and entrepreneurial self-starter with ability to take initiative and teachable character.
  • Must demonstrate high emotional maturity and a pleasant and professional attitude.
  • Previous public speaking and teaching experience preferred.
  • Established ability to speak before large and small groups with poise and enthusiasm.
  • Experience in writing and editing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of child safety policies and best practices in family ministry.
SKILLS
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, pastoral, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with demanding and challenging people and adapt to change and maintain professionalism during crisis or any unexpected situations.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office applications, social media and Adobe Creative Suite.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill set; experience and training; licensure, certifications, and ordination; and other organizational needs.

Compensation: $66,500.00 - $70,000.00 per year
